Model D Article
Trent Design
is featured today in Model D for our move into Midtown Detroit. With the opening of our second office now officially underway, we’re happy the local community has started to take some notice! The rest of the article can be read here.

“Past the party, past me trying to promote my business, it actually gets the news out that Detroit’s a good place to do business,” says director/owner Marilyn Trent.

Many thanks to author Ashley Woods for the interview. We still owe you a Trentini!

The new Trent Design Midtown Detroit office was filled with laughter and conversation throughout the afternoon and into the night. More than 100 friends and clients, new and old came to congratulate Marilyn Trent and her team, see the office, enjoy the food and, of course, taste the now famous Trentini.

The all-mighty Trentini made with real grapefruit!

PS— For those of you interested in the Trentini, we’ve added the recipe for it here:

INGREDIENTS
• 2 grapefruit wedges (peeled and skinned)
• 1/2 tsp. finely chopped mint (adjust to taste)
• 2 oz. Absolut® Ruby Red Vodka
• Squeeze 1/2 of lemon
• 1 oz. Simple Syrup (adjust to taste)

DIRECTIONS
Muddle the grapefruit and mint and put in a martini shaker. Add ice to shaker—add the rest of the  ingredients and shake until chilled. Serve in a martini glass with a mint sprig and a peeled and skinned grapefruit wedge. Enjoy!

Tenacious Rascals Entering New Territory

Never a dull moment around our design and communications world in Downtown Rochester. We have taken the plunge and opened a second office in Midtown Detroit. For those of you who know and those of you who don’t know; Midtown is turning into a mecca for change and growth. At a time in history when you wonder where the next ‘good’ news story is going to come from, this one is it.

I’ve always been a big fan of the cultural center, because of my connection to the arts and the clients I work with in Detroit. When space in 71 Garfield became available, I decided to put our skin in the game. Being here gives us great visibility and we like it that we are a part of the revitalization of Detroit.

The building we have moved into is 71 Garfield. It is an historic property built in 1922, as a hotel where the jazz musicians hung out. It was recently renovated to attract artists and other creative enterprises with live-and-work studio spaces as well as commercial offices.

Stop in and visit, if you are in the area. They are building a beautiful ‘greenway’ that connects us to Downtown Detroit and is pedestrian friendly.Trent Design's New Office In Midtown Detroit

Guerrilla Marketing—Getting the Mind Out of Forced Indifference

Guerrilla marketing can be very effective because it snaps the mind out of the state of forced indifference – a state that we’ve developed in response to daily advertising.

The campaign that we did for Art X Detroit was part guerrilla and part creative sign making. It consisted of window decals, lawn signs, x’s on dowels for people to pick and take with them, building projections, side walk chalk art signage and X’s on the sides of lamp posts. The best part of this exercise was the response from people when they did see something different and wanted to know more. It becomes a pull and not a push when you can engage people with your message by using other means to get your message in the hands of your target audience.

Trent Design has re-launched the website for Aurum Design Jewelry. Aurum emerged as one of Rochester’s premier custom jewelry design shops and its new site is tailored to reflect that style. The design feels fluid and dynamic with backgrounds that transform to demonstrate the versatility of the jewelry paired with the wearer.

By opening up the page(s) and restricting the amount of displayable content, we provided Aurum with a larger canvas for their work. Finally, a javascript language (jQuery) was executed for simple animation and transitional effects to move the user seamlessly between pages.

Photography for the site was used to brand Aurum and the look has so far, been used to treat everything from Aurum’s holiday invitations to their store-front signage.
